RailRunner is more or less an arcade version of Railroad Tycoon 3, one of my favourite pieces of game design ever. There is such a beautiful combination of gameplay mechanics (real-time supply/demand, train and rail trade-offs, city expansion, stock market, objectives) and context (location, story, music, sound effects, rich graphics) in RRT3 that I feel taking a selection of them and adding a few arcadey twists could result in a fun short form of the game.

So that’s the plan. It’s very early days, and I’m mostly just messing around with ideas at the moment while getting a handle on the HGE. More details to come when I actually get into the meat.
